Stonecreek

Stonecreek is centrally located in the valley at the Tatum and Cactus area for easy access. And, if the pro shop is behind in getting you out on time, there’s a nice practice facility, complete with driving range, chipping green, sand trap and putting green.
Stonecreek Golf Club is a fun and semi-challenging course originally designed by Pete Dye about 25 years ago, but re-designed by Arthur Hills in 1987 (not a railroad tie in sight). The women’s tees are quite short (5018 yards, with a 119 slope), so the low handicappers will probably want to play the black tees at 5936 yards.
With so many great golf courses in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area, Stonecreek is probably not top shelf, but it’s very enjoyable, and there’s enough variety to keep you interested. The off-peak season of June to October rates are $50, increased to $70 for weekdays and $85 on weekends during October to Christmas. During the peak from December 25 to April, weekdays are $85 and weekends are $105.

Paradise Valley Country Club

Paradise Valley Country Club is a prestigious 50-year old, member-owned golf club with over 1,000 active members. Nestled in the beautiful outcroppings of Mummy Mountain in Paradise Valley, this club and its golf course offer breathtaking views of the “Valley of the Sun.” The club is currently undergoing a $28 million dollar transformation, which when completed will rival the best in club facilities available anywhere in the country. The first phase of renovation, a recreational facility, is scheduled for completion in June and the second phase, a new clubhouse, is to be completed in November of 2004. The beautiful new southwestern clubhouse will have three dining rooms, a conference room, locker rooms, cart storage, administrative offices and a pro shop. The new recreational center, adjacent to the Olympic size swimming pool, has a state of the art fitness center, a barbershop, locker rooms and the Paradise Grill. There is an active tennis membership at the club with nine courts available. Paradise Valley Country Club offers a variety of recreational opportunities for all age levels. The golf course was completely redesigned in 1995 by Keith Foster.
